Group portrait of Open House Committee 2018

Open House Committee

Open House Committee is the group of students that are responsible for planning and implementing the entirety of Cal Poly's annual Open House weekend. They work with campus and community partners to put on an event-filled weekend that showcases all that Cal Poly has done and is currently doing and celebrates current students, families, and alumni.

Interested in getting involved with Open House?

Open House Committee is open to students of all years, majors, and backgrounds! If you'd like to learn more or apply, feel free to review the Open House Committee Application page here, or reach out to us at orientation@calpoly.edu for more information.

As Open House draws closer, we will also be looking for volunteers for events throughout the weekend. Check back in winter and spring for more information on these volunteering opportunities!

What advice do you have for potential Cal Poly students and supporters?

"The best things in life are often waiting for you at the exit ramp of your comfort zone." College is truly the time to step out of your comfort zone and try things you never thought you would. I found my home at Cal Poly by taking a leap of faith and stepping out of my comfort zone, and I encourage all incoming students to do the same! For supporters, check up on your student every once in a while, but also remember to take a step back and trust that your student is in a wonderful place filled with the most amazing individuals and they will grow more than ever during their time here.

I would highly recommend getting involved with something on campus. For me, I found my home in both New Student and Transition Programs and many of the clubs on campus just by reaching out to them and joining. It has made me feel so much more comfortable with not only myself but also with my presence on campus and what I want out of my education.
