WOW Faculty & Staff Visits, Sept. 19 - 24, 2018
New Student & Transition Programs would like to invite on campus employees to participate in a Week of Welcome event called Faculty & Staff Visits. Faculty & Staff Visits provide an opportunity for incoming students to make a personal connection with an established professional at Cal Poly, by getting the chance to spend some informal after-hours time together. Faculty & staff members get the opportunity to meet a WOW group, approximately 15-20 students, and share their positive experiences about Cal Poly, answer questions, provide general information about the University and community, and establish an informal and personal connection with new students.
Previously successful visits included ice cream parties, game nights, or pizza parties at local favorite hot spots. It is also encouraged to even open up your homes to these new students for dinner and a bonding activity. Though the activity is important, we have found that the most impactful part of these visits is the relationship-building component.
