Welcome Aboard Cal Poly Maritime Academy
Your journey begins with Maritime Orientation, a comprehensive program designed to facilitate your transition, help you discover campus resources, and connect you with peers, faculty and staff dedicated to your success.
Fall Orientation Dates
- Fall Move-in: 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17
- Orientation: Tuesday, Aug. 18 through Sunday, Aug. 23
- Instruction Begins: Monday, Aug. 24
Orientation Overview
This immersive experience will help you navigate your new home on the waterfront and prepare for the academic and social expectations of the Cal Poly Maritime community. The program welcomes and empowers new students to:
- Belong: Build an inclusive community with a strong sense of pride.
- Succeed: Understand academic expectations and Cal Poly's Learn by Doing rigor.
- Navigate: Gain the confidence to utilize campus resources and support systems.
- Connect: Create meaningful ties with peers, faculty and staff.
- Lead: Commit to a culture of integrity, leadership and inclusive excellence.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of Orientation, students will be able to:
- Feel connected to campus.
- Identify ways to build community and engage meaningfully with peers, staff and faculty.
- Demonstrate knowledge of academic, wellness and campus life resources available to support their success.
Fee Information
The fee for Maritime Orientation is $365. Fees for students in Cal Poly Scholars or Educational Opportunity Program are covered by their program. The orientation fee covers activities, trainings, events, community and social activities, and meals not covered by the student's meal plan.
Orientation Schedule
The schedule of Orientation events are available for Cadet and Traditional Student tracks. The Cadet Track is an immersive, highly structured leadership and life skills program specifically tailored for incoming license-track undergraduates and those opting into the Corps of Cadets. The Traditional Student Track provides a dedicated developmental framework designed for students in majors that do not require a merchant mariners license.
