Make a difference for future Mustangs, develop leadership skills and participate in one of the most unique, Learn by Doing experiences on campus. Every year, more than 700 students participate in the Orientation leadership development program, making Cal Poly’s student-led program one of the largest in the U.S.
Open House
Inform the way Cal Poly is seen by thousands of prospective students, their families and supporters, alumni and community members. Help plan and execute one of the biggest events of the year and gain valuable leadership experience, too.
Open House Team
Lead the Open House planning and implementation of Open House weekend. Work directly with professional staff and campus and community partners to ensure that prospective students and their families and supporters, alumni and community members see all Cal Poly has to offer.

SLO Days
Shape new students’ first experience of Cal Poly by working with the first part of our two-part orientation. Lead groups of incoming students and their supporters around campus, answer questions and develop your leadership skills.
Students who are selected to be a SLO Days Summer Crew leader receive housing for the summer in San Luis Obispo, hourly compensation, meals on orientation days, and a SLO Days uniform. Summer Crew leaders can also work with their peers, network with campus resources and help welcome our newest Mustangs to campus.
Orientation Leadership Team
Summer Operations Managers oversee the logistics of SLO Days and manage the Summer Crew. Students gain experience in peer management and large-scale event planning.

Orientation Leadership Team
Leadership team chairs work directly with professional staff to supervise OLT Leads and Orientation Facilitator Team. Students plan, organize and execute SLO Days and Week of Welcome. The team coordinates with campus and community partners, trains OLT Leads and the Facilitator Team and presents leadership development training to 600 leaders.

New Student and Transition Programs has a variety of intern and administrative staff positions available on a rolling basis as needed — with opportunities that may include scheduling, sponsorship development, and photo and video support.
