University Welcome: Student Speaker Application
In order to be eligible for this opportunity you need to meet ALL of the requirements below:
Be a first-year student
Be available on April 7th, 2017 from 8 AM-12 PM
(University Welcome occurs from 9 AM-11AM)
Compose a draft of proposed speech (5 minutes max.)
Talk about any clubs/organizations you are involved in
Reference from Cal Poly faculty/staff, Resident Advisor, or High School Teacher
Please email speech draft, reference, and contact info (name, phone number, Cal Poly email) to open-house@calpoly.edu by February 24th, 2017 by 5 PM.
The Open House Committee is looking for a first-year student to speak about their experiences as a Cal Poly student, during University Welcome at Open House 2017. This is a great opportunity for students to gain public speaking experience and interact with prospective students and their supporters as they explore Cal Poly. This event will occur on Friday, April 7th, 2017 from 9-11 AM.
Open House University Welcome is the first interaction that admitted students have with Cal Poly to learn more about the school. University Welcome is divided into two sessions. There will be important Cal Poly representatives including President Armstrong, Vice President of Student Affairs Keith Humphrey, faculty, parents, and students speaking. There will also be musical entertainment during the event.
